Automated Financial Transaction entries from Banks Statements into ERP through Robotic Process Automation
In order to improve efficiency, save time, and reduce errors in financial record-keeping, our customer sought to automate the manual process of entering transaction details from monthly bank statements and credit card statements into ERP Next, an online ERP tool. The current task involves categorizing each transaction, which is time-consuming and repetitive. By implementing an automated solution, the goal was to streamline the process by extracting relevant information from PDF statements and automatically inputting it into ERP Next, simplifying the task and improving accuracy.
Our custom-developed Python script, executed by a dedicated bot, automates the extraction of essential information from bank statements and credit card PDFs. The bot transfers the extracted data into an Excel file, where transactions are validated and categorized based on their financial process. Subsequently, the bot logs into the ERP tool and enters credit and debit entries into the system, transaction by transaction, using the categorized data from Excel. This automation eliminates the need for manual data entry, resulting in time savings and accurate financial record-keeping within the ERP platform.
